Ilaiya Raja : Music is the food of love
Ilaiya Raja (king who is young forever), 56, a classical guitarist, hails from Pannaipuram in Madurai District of Tamil Nadu. A winner of Maestro title, by conducting the 'grand' symphony, defines music as the vehicle rendered by God to him to attain the ultimate. Gnanadesikan (oniginal name kept by his father) who was later called Rajaiah, with his determination and hard working reached the goals he wanted to. Raja has composed music for nearly 1000 films. He is an expert in Indian folk songs. His speciality is utilising the right combination of instruments to render a modern song with folk as the base. According to him, folk is the origin of all music. He is also an expert in providing variety in music with a mix of melody, by which his songs does not sound repetitive and it lives long compared to the current trend of rythm based short-lived songs.
