Amartya Sen : Poor Man's Economist

Amartya Sen, 65, was awarded the 1998 Bank of Sweden
Prize in Economic Sciences in memory of Alfred Noble. Sen is an expert in the field of welfare economics or the economics of poverty and famine, a subject which addresses the economic issues to improve the condition of the common man . Sen arrived a poverty index which depends on certain properties of income distribution of people below the poverty line. He has stressed several socio-economic factors of different societies and arrived at actual opportunities.
